Valuation or survey?
A valuation assesses what a property is worth. A survey examines its condition and provides advice on defects and repairs. If you need both, tell us when requesting a quotation so we can confirm the appropriate service.
Valuations for different purposes
- Help to Buy valuations For repayment of a Help to Buy equity loan or sale of the property, subject to the scheme’s requirements.
- Shared ownership valuations For buying additional shares, known as staircasing, or selling a shared ownership property, subject to the provider’s requirements.
- Private valuations An independent view of value to inform a purchase, sale, transfer or other personal property decision.
- Matrimonial valuations Property valuations to support divorce or separation matters, with the instruction and reporting requirements agreed in advance.
- Probate valuations Valuations to assist with probate and estate administration, at the relevant valuation date.
- Taxation valuations Property valuations for tax-related purposes, with the required basis and valuation date agreed with you and your professional advisers.

Before you instruct us
Please tell us why you need the valuation, the required valuation date and who will use the report. If a lender, scheme provider, solicitor or accountant has specified requirements, send these to us before booking.
We will confirm the scope, fee and reporting requirements before proceeding. The report is prepared for the agreed purpose and intended users.
